Hello! I'm David, and at the moment I'm the entirety of The Habitat People
I've been involved in conservation and land management for the last seven years, having worked for the RSPB, BTO and a number of ecological consultancies. As such, I've got a broad bank of knowledge and experience in improving and managing biodiversity in many scenarios. From farms to city apartments and everything in between - I truly believe I can help you to encourage more wildlife into your green spaces!
I strive to offer a friendly, approachable face to helping people improve their land, be it designing a meadow for enjoyment in someone's garden or working with a farm to increase the number of wild birds breeding in field margins.
I have excellent identification skills, including, but not limited to:
I am very experienced in mapping software such as ArcGIS, QGIS and AutoCAD, and can use these pieces of technical software to map anything from existing habitats and bird nests to designing whole new areas and landscapes.
Finally I think the most vital skill I have is that I'm a good listener - ultimately when we work together it's your land, and I want to make sure that you are in control of what you want, and that we can build the landscape or habitat of your dreams!
Founded in the challenging summer after the first wave of the COVID pandemic, I realised that there was a surge of interest in people's local nature, as it was often the only entertainment or interaction with the outside world many people had. I want to help people to bridge the gap between people and their natural environment, by using the experience and knowledge I have to advise on land usage to encourage wildlife to thrive.
I have a fascination with maps and cartography, painting a series based on what the world will look like in a post - climate change future.
